Gladys "Granny" Hogan Ashwell, 84 of Huddleston, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at her residence after a lenghty illness. She was born on Tuesday, April 30, 1929 in Fayette Co., WV, a daughter of the late Herman Walker Hogan and Ozelma Cundiff Hogan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Page Ashwell, two brothers, Sonny Hogan & Claude Edward Hogan and a sister, Doris H. Stevens, She was a floral designer with Glolyn Flowers for many years. Surviving are her sons, Marshall Page Ashwell, Jr. of Lookout Mountain, TN, Craig Ashwell & wife, Diane of Huddleston; a grandson, Gregory Ashwell of Huddleston; a granddaughter, Desiree Ashwell of Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, Evan Ashwell of Huddleston; and a sister, Lois H. Ringley & husband, Bob of Bedford. The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and help provided by Lynn and the entire Medihome Hospice team as well as Dr. Brian Buchanan and staff. Special thanks to long time family friend & caregiver, Eleanor Martin for all of her help and support as well. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Leftwich Cemetery on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Steve Turner officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
