Erna Louise Karnes Johnson, 89 of Bedford, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at the home of her granddaughter.  She was born March 31, 1935 in Bedford, VA, a daughter of the late Nathan Luck Karnes and Glennie Mae Stanley Karnes.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Plymale Johnson. 

 

She was retired from GE and was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her sisters, Ruby Dudley, Annie Bell Phillips; her brothers, Ray Karnes, Roy Karnes & wife, Jean, Roberts Karnes; grandchildren, Sara Sweigart (Kris), Wesley White (Leah); great grandchildren, Abigail Sweigart, Brody Sweigart.

 

A joint visitation for Mrs. Johnson and her daughter, Lisa Wilson be held beginning at 10 am on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Timber Ridge Baptist Church and a joint funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Phillip Kelley officiating.  Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
