Obituary of William "Billy" Wells Kendrick

William (Billy) Wells Kendrick, 60 of Bedford, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on Saturday, October 25, 1958 in Lynchburg, a son of Nancy Wells Kendrick Newman of Bedford who survives and the late Winston Edward Kendrick Sr.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Winston E. Kendrick, Jr.; his grandparents, Robert Floyd & Mary Luck Wells and Carlton & Addie Mayhew Kendrick.

He retired as an Electronic Tech at General Electric (Harris Corp.) and was a devoted farmer.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Al Newman of Bedford; a sister, Cheri Kendrick & husband, Rev. Bill Wood of Forth Worth, TX.  

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Bedford County Animal Shelter, 1307 Falling Creek Road, Bedford, VA 24523 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.  

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bedford and a funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel with Rev. Russ Alden and Redd McIntyre officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.   Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
